Public Speaking

Through my experience in improv, I've had a lot of practice performing in front of others. Improv has also taught me to be comfortable taking up space on stage. My lab work happens in a very different environment than improv shows, but it has also contributed to my public speaking skills. I've presented on my research to my lab groups. These experiences have helped me polish my self-presentation in both casual and professional settings.

Organization

One of my responsibilities within the lab is lab organization, which includes everything from ordering new materials  to logically arranging reagents to managing waste flow. I implemented a new organization system within the lab which helped streamline experiments (no more time wasted looking for reagents!). Additionally, working in a lab has taught me how to juggle multiple projects that each have different time-sensitive tasks.

Adaptability

As a military brat, adaptability runs in my blood. However, my experiences at university have been opportunities to put that adaptability into practice. For one example, when I caught COVID during my study abroad trip, I had to navigate an unfamiliar pharmacy in French while delirious with fever. It was certainly memorable, and showed me my ability to adapt to difficult circumstances.
